Flash Back- March 22, 2017 6:00 p.m.

Omphalocele 

Don't google it!  In fact, take it from a NICU mom, never google a medical diagnosis. But since I did this is what I learned.

-Linked to Trisomy 13 and 18.  Genetic disorders resulting in health problems involving every organ system in the body.  Usually resulting in death by age one.

-Linked to Trisomy 21, Downs Syndrome

-And the list goes on..Linked to Beckwith-Weideman Syndrome which results in an increased risk of childhood cancer.  

- Heart and lungs underdeveloped. Meaning the baby might need heart surgery or possibly even a tracheotomy.

💔Terrifying news to a newly expecting couple, but when you're a mom of a One in Fifty Thousand you fight.  Some doctors are afraid of the fight. Our first battle: Find one who is not.
