Five Things My Non-Early Bird, Sleep Deprived Self does Every Morning

Y’all I am NOT a morning person. However, One in Fifty Thousand did not get the memo.  I'm lucky to sleep in after 6 AM.  Plus this baby boy seems to be following the cliché: "it's five o'clock somewhere".  5 AM that is.  Sleep is a luxury I don't have (as I'm sure you don't either).  I have learned to cope with my non-early bird, sleep deprived self by doing five things every morning.  Maybe some of these things can add some serenity to your morning hustle.

Number One: I Treat Myself, I Earned It!

Image result for kevin o'leary coffee"The best part of waking up..."  you know the rest.  For me it's Dunkin thin mint in my cup.  I drink a Dunkin Donuts coffee every work morning.  It's my morning treat and it gives me something to look forward to each morning.  Is it expensive?  Yes. I probably spend $10-15 dollars a week on my morning treat.  I know Kevin O'Leary would not approve and so what. (Have y'a ll seen this commercial).  I didn't wake up in a mansion, or drive to work in a luxury car.  If a $3 dollar coffee makes my day feel brighter, then it's worth it. I'm worth it.  And so are you.  So find a way to treat yourself every morning.

Number Two: I Get Dressed-Up

Every morning, I take the time to get dressed, really dressed.  I do my hair, put on a little bit of make-up, wear a cute outfit, accessories with jewelry and shoes.  I find that I tend to feel as good as I look so I make this a priority.  A few extra minutes of sleep isn't worth feeling like you know what all day.

Number Three: I Get my mom fix

I HAVE to get my mom time in before I leave for work.  I need my snuggles and my kisses.  I have to see that smile, and hear that little laugh.  It sustains me through out my work day until I can see that precious face again.

Number Four: I Kiss my Husband

This is another must.  The hubby and I always give each other a parting kiss each morning.  And if it's a morning that he's working and I'm not he still kisses me while I'm in bed.  I told you he is a keeper.

Number Five: I connect to the cross

I do this in different ways.  Some mornings I read to baby boy from his children's Bible while I feed him his morning bottle.  Some mornings I read a short devotional at my desk once I get to work.  My absolute favorite devotional is Jesus Calling by Sarah Young.  She has a few different devotionals.  Below is a link to the one I use.

During my pregnancy with One in Fifty Thousand this book was my lifeline.  I swear each day God was talking directly to me through this devotional.  It seemed like every day's message was tailor written for what I needed to hear.

I also have a Bible app on my phone that sends me a daily verse each morning at 8 o'clock.  I use this as my plan B.  If the verse pops up on my phone and realize I haven't spent any time with the Lord yet, I take a few seconds and reflect on the verse and say a quick prayer.

And another way I connect is to listen to Christian radio as I drive to work in the morning. It gives me one more way to spend time with God and prepare for the day ahead.

How do you spend your mornings?
